The college library is regarded as the backbone of college institution . The Library of Govt
Degree college nowshera was established in the year 2008 and started functioning from the
premises of Govt. Middle School, Nowshera. Nowadays library of GDC Nowshera is located at
darshan nagar and 1 st floor of college building. The college library at present has a collection
of approximately 9419 books. There is one separate reference section , science & arts section
and reading room for students. Several magazines, newspapers and journals are available for
the benefit of the students. Technical services such as Book selection, acquisition,
Classification, coding for assigning location, automation are done regularly. The college
library is automated using KOHA 23.11.08 version. Till date approximately 9419 books have
been catalogued with pasting of barcodes. Marc21 format has been followed while
cataloguing the books and the process of entering data of library books continues, as every
year books are added into the library. Classification is done using DDC 23rd edition and OCLC
along with subject heading. College library is performing its work with almost all the modules
of Koha such as, koha administration, Cataloguing, Patron creation, Circulation, tools and
Report generation. Library offers free WIFI facility to all the students & faculty. Also there is
an E-resources access zone in the library.
